Glow In The Dark Piglets

Recently a group of scientists from South China Agricultural University genetically created 10 pigs that glow in the dark, they did this by mixing DNA from the 10 adorable piglets, with DNA from jelly fishes. The reason for conducting such an, odd, experiment was to find a way that will make medicine cheaper and more efficient for people, who sadly suffer from blood and infidelity medical related conditions. The glow in the dark pigs are said to have  normal lives, and life spans compared to any average pig.

‘It’s just a marker to show that we can take a gene that was not originally present in the animal and now exists in it,’ explained Dr Stefan Moisyadi, a bioscientist at the University of Hawaii’s Institute for Biogenesis Research.

Strangely enough glow in the dark animals don’t seem to be regarded as anything new, in the science world! for example scientists from the University of Hawaii and two Turkish universities had previously genetically engineered 8 glow in the dark bunnies. They did this by injecting fluorescent jellyfish proteins into eight rabbit when they were still embryos.

Do you think this is a misuse of our authority over animals, or do you think that “it’s all for a good cause”?leave your comments below

A Taiwanese Woman Has Married Herself

Taiwanese woman married herself

Chen Wei-yih is a Taiwanese female who has married herself and has even taken a holiday to Australia for her honeymoon. Mrs Wei-yih says that she couldn’t find a suitable partner and she felt a lot pressure from her family members and even society, so decided to tie the knot with herself!

“Age thirty is a prime period for me. My work and experience are in good shape, but I haven’t found a partner, so what can I do?” Chen said.

“It’s not that I’m anti-marriage. I just hope that I can express a different idea within the bounds of a tradition.”

The wedding ceremony took place on November 6 2010 and Chen made sure everything was  arranged like a traditional wedding by renting a banquet hall, enlisting the help of a wedding planner (for the reception for her 30 friends) and wearing a very beautiful floor length dress.

And you know what, why not? I live by the motto do what makes you happy as long as you’re not hurting anyone. Live your life in a way so that when you’re old and reminiscing on past memories, you will have few if any regrets, and Chen will surely not regret that day.

Unusual News In Asia:Chinese Man Has His Hand Surgically Placed Onto His Ankle

A man’s right hand was severed on the 10 November, as a result of an industrial accident. Doctors have since sewn it onto his ankle, and in a month he will undergo reattachment surgery. This was done to keep his hand alive during the wait! Doctors have said that it is very likely that the reattachment surgery will be successful but only after his right arm has been recovered.

The first hospital that Xiao Wei visited said that they could not save his hand, however luckily Mr Xiao was referred to a larger hospital in Changsha,(seven hours after the accident) where they could do so. Speaking about the accident Xiao said “I am still young, and I couldn’t imagine life without a right hand.”

Cairian Healy (of the Royal College of Surgeons in England) says that procedures like this are rare, but not unheard of, and that Chinese doctors are pretty experienced in microsurgery. For example Chinese doctors have even grown a nose on a man’s forehead, to replace his original nose which was damaged as a result of a car crash. I don’t see NO British surgeon doing something as cool as that…

So, zoo owners thought they could fool their visitors into thinking a dog was a lion…

A zoo had replaced their exotic lion with a common Tibetan mastiff dog. sources say that the  dog was put in the lion’s cage as a replacement because the lion was sent away to a training centre.
Not many people were fooled by this silly trick, Liu Wen who brought her son to the zoo said: “I had my young son with me so I tried to play along and told him it was a special kind of lion, but then the dog barked and he knew straight away what it was and that I’d lied to him”.

A spokesman for the zoo said: ‘We’re doing our best in tough economic times.
‘If anyone is unhappy with our displays we will give them back their money.’

The zoo claims that the dog was being temporarily housed there due to safety concerns.

I just…I just do not understand what was going through their minds when they were trying to pull that stunt off? Surely they would have known that their visitors would have recognised that the dog was not a lion, the dog doesn’t even resemble one! How stupid do they think people are? I just hope that the reports of this story are mistaken.

JUST WOW is all I got to say to this story.

Unusual News In Asia:Dead Foetus Sold For £4,000 blogaw

A British man was arrested in Thailand after police found him in possession of six human fetuses, which had been roasted and covered in gold leaf for a black magic ritual. Apparently, there is a belief that rituals using such props help to improve one’s wealth.

These fetuses are referred to as Toyol (or Tuyul) and are child spirits invoked by a Malay Witch Doctor, from a dead human foetus.Toyol are  usually kept in a jar and given offerings of food. They are said to be playful but can be easily manipulated to cause mischief.

The British man faces up to one year in prison and a 2,000-baht (£38.08) fine if he is found guilty ,even though the fetuses were bought for the equivalent of £4,000 and could have been sold for six times that amount in Taiwan. Wiwat Kumchumnan, of the Thai police’s children and women protection unit, said: “The bodies are of children between the ages of two and seven months.

Ok this is unusual even for me, What do you guys think?
